How could a virtual assistant help your business?
Are you wasting valuable time completing tasks that take you far too long? Could you outsource those tasks and pass them on to a virtual assistant, who could do them in a fraction of the time?
Not only could a virtual assistant save you a lot of time completing a variety of business tasks, but they could also save your bottom line. Virtually Assist explains how a VA could help you maximise your business efficiency.
A virtual assistant, often abbreviated as VA, is a professional who provides remote administrative, creative, or technical support to individuals or businesses.
Unlike traditional in-house assistants, virtual assistants work remotely and utilise digital tools and communication platforms to perform tasks and collaborate with their clients.
They offer a wide range of services, including managing emails, scheduling appointments, conducting research, minute taking, digital filing, proof reading, social media management, content creation and more.
Virtual assistants provide flexible and cost-effective solutions, allowing individuals and businesses to delegate tasks and streamline their operations without the need for physical office space or additional employees.
Don’t devalue your time with mundane business tasks
As a small business owner, I have often thought, “I can do that task, so why should I pay someone else to do it?” But actually, when I have taken the decision to use a VA to complete a task I am not fully experienced in, it turned out to be a far more cost-effective. To give an example, when developing my logo, I thought it would be easy to do just using Canva.
However, after spending hours painstakingly trying to come up with something that just wasn’t right, I eventually enlisted the help of someone to do this for me at a reasonable cost. The hours I spent trying to do something I didn’t have experience in cost me far more lost time that would have been better used earning.
From this experience (along with others), I know my time is more productively spent doing the things I am experienced in rather than spending many hours working on something that I could outsource for a fraction of that time.
How to decide which tasks to outsource to a VA
Tasks are essential for the success of any business. It is important to categorise them so that you know which tasks should be prioritised, done well, and cost-effectively. The four categories of business tasks can range from high-priority and income-generating tasks to ones that take up a lot of time but are not as essential.
The tasks you should do – high-value, income-generating tasks that require expertise which you are good at and enjoy doing. This could include writing content, marketing activities or developing new strategies.
The tasks you shouldn’t do – low-value tasks that take up too much time. This could include preparing documents, data entry or bookkeeping.
The tasks you don’t want to do – mundane and repetitive jobs, including inbox and email management.
It can be challenging to divide your tasks into the above three categories, but at Virtually Assist we can give you support and guidance to find the tasks that truly speak to you!
Concerned about the cost of a virtual assistant?
We are all on a budget and trying to cut costs wherever possible. This means that routine tasks such as admin are things we think should be easy to complete ourselves. However, would this time not be spent more efficiently on either chargeable hours or driving our businesses forward using the expertise we have honed over the years?
Is the time that you are spending doing administrative tasks (including your precious free time) taking its toll on your business or personal life? We all need time for ourselves, whether it’s for family, leisure, exercise or relaxation. Even if you are spending 1 hour a day over five days on tasks that could be outsourced, that is still 5 hours a week lost from your downtime. As busy humans, we tend to let things build up, as we don’t have enough time to keep on top of routine things. When we come back to these routine tasks, it takes far longer to sort out the mess and important things are lost along the way.
By outsourcing tasks such as administration to a VA, you will stay organised; things won’t be missed, and you will have some valuable free time to recharge your batteries and clear your head!

Win back your time with Virtually Assist
As a VA, supporting businesses with their administrative requirements means I wear many hats and I am an expert at multi-tasking. During my time as a VA, I have learned many skills. However, I have also discovered that there is a valid argument for outsourcing certain tasks – including its cost efficiency. No one person can do everything, even at the outset of starting a new business when budgets are particularly tight.
If the above rings true with you, why not get in touch so we can discuss the tasks you are spending too much time on or eating into your free time? We all know there are not enough hours in the day to keep on top of things, but with a VA, you could start to take some of those hours back!
If budgets are tight, choose to start on an ad-hoc basis or just work with me for a few hours per week to see if this option is right for you – you may be surprised!
